Picking casters with enough load capacity keeps your equipment safe and helps the wheels last longer. Here is a simple way to work out what you need.
Step 1: Add up the total weight. Include the cart or equipment itself plus the heaviest load it will ever carry.
Step 2: Divide by the number of casters minus one. Floors are rarely perfectly flat, so at any moment one caster may carry little or no weight. Dividing by one less than the total gives you a built-in safety margin. For example, a 1,200 lb cart on four casters needs casters rated for at least 400 lb each (1,200 divided by 3).
Step 3: Allow extra margin for tough conditions. Rough floors, ramps, impacts, frequent movement or towing all add stress, so choose a higher rating for these applications.
Every Rollium caster lists its load capacity in the product title, so you can quickly compare options. Need help sizing casters for a project? Get in touch and we will be glad to help.
